We were strangers starting out on a journey...
Cheesy song lyrics, but ever so true.
The half of the company still left in Singers1 met up for dinner tonight. We went to Sun restaurant in Wheelock Place. The food's not very authentic Jap I don't think, but the ambience is really nice. Here're pictures of the tantalising dishes we had, to tempt those far away from Eastern food... Hiaks.

Swallowapple's unagi rice set!

My oysters, spinach and bacon set!

This's dessert! Tofu cheesecake! I wonder why it needs to be caged. We wondered too what Daffy the Destructive Duck would have done with the cage if she were around. Put it on someone's head was my guess. Though whose head? I didn't guess.
So we were reminiscing over dinner, about how we first met each other in NIE during Math class, how we hung out mostly between ourselves because we didn't know the rest of the geog-ers beforehand, how we both thought ourselves to be weird coz of our combi of subjects until we found 3 other weirdos in the math class.
We talked too about our first impressions of the rest of the company. I always thought Daffy looked rather 'dao' and I remembered Ken(dra) for his gourmet sandwiches with Japanese cucumbers. Swallowapple on the other hand remembers both to be paper-tearers i.e. extremely violent and naughty students to watch out for during her microteaching! Hence her stare which is now trademarked.
Then there was the Semakau trip, during which the company first chatted more with each other on our way to/fro the landfill site. Then sometime after, we embarked on our first 'fieldtrip' to Sungei Buloh, Si Mi River and Labrador, and since then we've never looked back! (Someone shoot me for my cheesiness tonight please!)
We both agreed we've been to more places over the past 1.5? months (Math teacher here cannot count. She's lousy with such details.) than in our past 20++ years of living in Singapore (Oh wait, this one I can count! It's technically only 19+ years for me. Heh.) We also took more pictures in the past 1.5? months than we ever did in... a year? A term? Heh. Well the point is, we never had so many photos taken of us in Singapore in such a short span of time!
Whilst having my banana tangyuan dessert, I was thinking of Bananagirl and of a reminder to eat bananas before I fly to alleviate chances of jet-lag.
After dinner we left Wheelock, passing by the Yann Arthus-Bertrand photo exhibition, for Isetan to do (more) shopping. No prizes for guessing who spent too much money today. Honestly I think retail therapy really works but I guess you'll know why if I don't bring any gifts back for you from the US coz I'm too broke by then... :P
Okays, I'm slightly incoherent already. Need to sleep. Be back on Monday when camp finishes!
1. My Brit musician friend used to refer to Singapore and Singaporeans as Singers =)
